ABSTRACT

The practice of ambulatory (serving those who can walk or move about freely) pharmacy in the community is the oldest type of pharmacy practice, and it remains the first choice of roughly 60% of new pharmacy graduates. Of the different types of ambulatory practice settings, the most common is the community pharmacy. Community pharmacists serve patients by providing information and advice about health and drugs, provide medication, and refer patients to other sources of help and care, such as physicians, clinics, hospitals, and emergency rooms.
