Many of the tests described in this textbook depend upon normality. While many phenomena in engineering behave in normal (or near-normal) ways, there are many situations in which this is not the case. is chapter also presents methods for testing the validity of the normality
assumption and, when the assumption is not valid, presents an alternative method for testing equality of means.
