ABSTRACT
Introduction Traditionally, physical security concentrated on hardware. Today, it consists of hardware and sophisticated electronics meshed with information technology (IT) systems. Physical security is becoming increasingly automated and “smart.” is chapter covers the following topics: research directions, challenges of physical security, standards, IT and physical security, perimeter security, barriers, blast protection, electronic security systems, electronic entry-control systems, lock and key systems, doors, windows, lighting, closed-circuit TV, and security operations center.
