ABSTRACT
The movement toward alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the United States began after World War I and reached its £rst milestone with the passage of the £rst modern arbitration statute in New York in the mid-1920s. Since then, the movement has grown steadily, achieving explosive growth since 1980.
