ABSTRACT

Fishes have a role in all of the major aquatic ecosystems on Earth. An important part of their function in those systems is the food they eat and how they do it. By now, it should be evident to readers that ‘shes are rarely very specialized; on the contrary, they are rather diverse in feeding adaptations between and among species. This is due to several factors, including size differences that occur as ‘sh grow, the type of food available in different habitats, and changes in the abundance and distribution of foods due to seasonal and longer-term changes.
