ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, a broad working definition of evidence was proposed, as it relates specifically to crime scene investigation.

The purpose of such a broad definition is to bring the concept of evidence out of its traditional legal realm into the world of the practicum. In Chapter 1, Section 1.5, titled “The Concept of Evidence,” introduced the idea that evidence is not a simple concept and that its definition might have a psychological-some might say investigative-component unrelated to its legal relevance. Also suggested was the possibility that unrecognized “evidence” might still be evidence as defined above.
