ABSTRACT
The nose warms, humidifies and filters air. Filtration is by the nasal hairs and conchae (turbinates), causing alteration in air flow, so particles larger than 6 µm in diameter are trapped in nasal mucus. Sneezing, caused by nasal irritation, helps clear the nasal passages.
