ABSTRACT
Introduction An important component of clinical nursing practice is to protect patients from new infections during periods when they are receiving nursing care in hospitals, clinics or in their homes. It is equally important to ensure that nurses and other healthcare practitioners do not acquire infections from patients as a result of caring for them.
