ABSTRACT

A variety of techniques are available for tumour debulking and the choice is dependent on local availability and expertise. All the available techniques are of similar effi cacy. Electrocautery or diathermy tends to be available in most endoscopy units and is relatively inexpensive. Similarly, cryotherapy equipment is inexpensive compared to the neodymium-yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd-Yag) laser which has much higher capital and maintenance costs. We predominantly use electrocautery and a modifi ed version of cryotherapy termed cryoextraction – these are the main focus of this chapter.
