ABSTRACT
Electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor was proposed as far back as earlyin the last century. However, once the concept of moving the stimulation from the target organs of the pelvic floor to its peripheral nerve supply was introduced, this therapeutic approach gained broader acceptance and clinical application. The aim of sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) is to recruit residual function and to re-establish lost function.
