ABSTRACT
LEUKAEMIA Neoplastic conditions of the haemopoietic and lymphoid systems are closely related. Subclassifications of leukaemias and lymphomas tend to be complex but clinical management is usually based on a more simple and pragmatic division of leukaemias into acute or chronic, lymphoid or myeloid. There are around 7000 cases of leukaemia registered per year in the UK and these account for over 4000 deaths each year.
