ABSTRACT
Computers can assist humans by providing a second opinion about their decisions and by providing suggestions and potentially relevant information to guide human decisions. Increasingly, computers are sophisticated enough to be delegated full responsibility for making decisions. Computers buy and sell stocks on the stock market, fly aeroplanes, make credit checks and detect fraud. As we saw in Chapter 25, they permeate almost every aspect of decision-making in healthcare.
