ABSTRACT

ABCDE approach ● Ensure adequate IV access and O2 therapy is given. ● Call seniors and anaesthetic team early. ● Patients in district general hospitals should be transferred immediately to a

tertiary centre with an on-call vascular service. ● Urgent open repair via laparotomy is indicated with inlay grafting (see above). ● Do not aggressively fluid resuscitate as excess fluid can disrupt containment

of the rupture within retroperitoneal tissues, leading to exsanguination into the peritoneal cavity.
