ABSTRACT
Both hyperthyroidism and phaeochromocytoma may cause palpitations; however the associated symptoms are more suggestive of a thyroid problem. You might expect headache or uncontrollable blood pressure if the diagnosis were phaeochromocytoma. You should examine the patient for the presence of a goitre and thyroid eye signs.
