CRYSTALLOIDS Isotonic: used mostly for maintenance (replacement) regimens:
• Normal (0.9%) saline: 1 litre contains 154 mmol Na+. Use as default maintenance fluid in all situations unless local protocol dictates otherwise. Caution in ↑Na+ and liver dysfunction.
