ABSTRACT
We begin this chapter by outlining in very broad terms certain topics in the history of ecotoxicology that we consider particularly relevant to consideration of future developments. Then we identify several areas where we think it possible there could be technical developments in the near future. This chapter attempts to look ahead and is inevitably less objective than the rest of the book; some parts of it represent the personal views of the authors.
