ABSTRACT

Analytical toxicology is actively involved with the detection, identi cation, and quantitation of toxic compounds in various biological and other specimens. e aim of the analysis may be to determine either the content or the physiological activity of a compound or a set of compounds. In the second case, it is very oen impossible to detect, identify, and quantify all the putative toxicants; hence, the goal is mostly to estimate the intensity of the overall toxic eect. In addition to the qualitative and quantitative analyses, interpretation of analytical results is an integral part of analytical toxicology.
