ABSTRACT

The prospect of needing a rapid single detection platform presents many challenges. Some challenges are unique to epidemics and others are common for all testing situations (Klietmann and Ruoff 2001). Ideally, detection platforms should be capable of rapidly detecting and conrming hostile microbes, including modi-ed or previously uncharacterized ones, directly from complex matrix samples, with no false results. Furthermore, the instrument should be portable, user-friendly, and capable of testing for multiple agents simultaneously.
