ABSTRACT

Large electricity users often react after a large electrical bill is received, but have no means to proactively identify or remedy the cause. Therefore, a spreadsheet is developed for non-engineering managers to track electrical usage. Key time intervals and electrical values are identified, and then used with cost thumb rules to estimate a monthly electric bill within 90% or more of the actual value so that proactive measures can be taken during the month. A cost-based decision process is developed with six scenarios that illustrate how decisions can be made.
