ABSTRACT

Renewable energy sources include solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, tidal energy, hydropower, and biofuels. The environmental impact of renewable energy sources is more benign than that of fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources are constantly replenished. Due to the significance of renewable energy in scientific and engineering disciplines, it is becoming important for educational institutions to develop academic programs, curricula, and courses that prepare students for future careers in energy-related disciplines. Education and training programs that provide students with hands-on experience are the ones with the most positive impact on students’ learning. This entry presents a showcase for selected undergraduate renewable energy courses, curricula, and design/research projects offered by universities and colleges in the United States and Europe.
