ABSTRACT

New technologies, more sophisticated data collection methodologies, and greater experience are providing different ways of seeing and understanding energy, bringing this significant business cost into focus as an important component of business strategy and competitiveness. Energy conservation and energy efficiency have become part of energy effectiveness, the practice of engaging energy in the operations and goals of a business, as have energy reuse or on-site generation. New strategies, products, equipment, customer interfaces, and research on how people can be involved in energy effectiveness make this a newly intriguing field, full of change, excitement, and rewards.
