ABSTRACT
Although renewable energy (RE) resources have great potential to increase energy security and reduce dependency on imported energy and greenhouse gas emissions, utilizations are faced with challenges and difficulties. Therefore, robust and comprehensive policy making is essential in RE industry. To achieve this, technology roadmaps are important tools because of greater emphasis on research, development, and deployment activities to explore the future of RE emerging technologies. Despite numerous studies on the use and advantages of technology roadmap, few have studied its applicability for RE industry.This entry shows that RE roadmap provides a comprehensive suite of targeted, practical actions to speed RE development programs at different levels such as national, regional, and organizational by driving innovation and the deployment of a wide range of renewables. It helps policy/decision makers meet our targets and establishes a process of monitoring and evaluation that will enable adjustment of the approaches.
