ABSTRACT

People spend 80–90% of their time in an indoor environment. Consequently, thermal comfort, indoor air quality in the indoor environment, and the energy consumption issued from indoor activities need to be considered carefully. Buildings in university campuses have witnessed a marked increase in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability drive due to their impact on medium- to large-sized townships with different large-scale facilities in buildings such as lecturer rooms, research centers, laboratories, administration offices and conference rooms. The state-of-the-art energy consumption and environmental quality for buildings in higher education is discussed in this entry.
