ABSTRACT
Here we gather, in one central place, basic card-handling information, several conventions that it will be convenient to observe, and a summary of most of the background mathematics that is needed. We assume that readers have basic familiarity with a standard deck of fifty-two cards and its four suits of thirteen values. Occasionally we also add in a Joker.
