ABSTRACT

The year 2000 and later revisions of the ISO 9001 standard for quality management systems, and its variants, along with other manufacturing operating systems, is based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, also known as the PDCA cycle or the Deming cycle. This cycle is a repeating process of performing the four basic actions that a company performs to produce their product. These actions are often referred to as sections, stages, or phases of the cycle. See Figure 5.1 for an illustration of the PDCA cycle.
