ABSTRACT

Previous chapters have outlined the basic mechanics for constructing a first cut scope, time, and cost project plan. From this base point, we now need to introduce some additional planning issues that will have to be addressed. Earlier comments warned that there would be diverse areas of interest by different stakeholders. These different views manifest themselves in many different ways that collectively put pressure on the project to tweak the plan in an attempt to satisfy these concerns. The focus of this chapter is to illustrate various strategies that the PM has to embrace in customizing the initial plan to fit these various constraints or views, while keeping the bulk structure somewhat intact.
