ABSTRACT

Introduction PMI (2008) states that 90% of a PM’s time should be spent on of internal and external communications. Communications management is a model process outlining how PMs should manage the communications related to a project. Project status tracking and reporting processes should be defined at the start of any project as part of the communications plan, which describes the information needs of the stakeholders and the project team. This overall plan should cover who needs to what, when they need to know it, and how the information should be received. There are many ways of reporting weekly and monthly status of a project (i.e., Microsoft Project 2010, Excel, Visio, email, and/or your imagination). This chapter will cover useful project status reporting techniques that can be utilized for tracking progress.
