ABSTRACT

The primary scope-to-schedule knowledge linkages are the work packages and other elements outlined in the WBS. As discussed earlier, the WBS and its associated dictionary of lower level data contain the primary support data for creating the project schedule (PMI 2001). In a properly defined WBS, the box structure will pass through into the subsequent schedule and work plans. In this regard, it is important to emphasize that if the work is not reflected in the WBS, then “it is not considered to be in the project scope, schedule or budget.” For this scheduling discussion, there will be clear visibility of scope boxes in the plan and identified by their WBS IDs. This translation process is the main chapter goal.
