ABSTRACT

Introduction Historical surveys indicate that about 70−75% of all projects have been delivered late or have been cancelled (Whitten 1995). This has led to a “tainted” reputation for the projects and project management in general. Poor performance can occur for many reasons-poor management, no process or immature execution methodology, inadequate buy-in from stakeholders, ineffective sponsor and/or user involvement, unrealistic deadlines, and not learning from past lessons learned.
