ABSTRACT
Equations of state are mathematical equations relating P, V , T, and n for a sample of substance. These equations usually are very complicated for solids and liquids, but are simpler for gases. P, V, T, and n are not independent; for the types of systems we deal with, specifying the values for any three automatically determines the fourth.
