ABSTRACT

Sensitivity describes the minimum change of signal that can be reliably detected. In the context of pharmaceutical screening, it describes the ability of an assay to detect weak stimuli over any noise signal. Sensitivity should be calibrated by the false-negative rate; a low false-negative rate corresponds to high sensitivity of an assay.
