In the human HT3B gene, alternative tissue-specic promoters have the potential to create truncated versions of the canonical 5-HT3B subunit (Figure 22.3) (Tzvetkov et al., 2007). One of these only has a few amino acids missing from the N-terminus, while the other is devoid of a large proportion of the extracellular domain (ECD). e functional signicance of these isoforms has not yet been evaluated.
