ABSTRACT
Product Mission Statement The first thing we need to do when undertaking the development of a new system, or redesign of an old one, is to obtain or develop a concise description of what it is supposed to do. Such a statement is often called a “product mission statement” (or “system mission statement”). Some organizations refer to a concept of operations (Conops) statement, which is similar to the mission statement, although the Conops tends to be longer. In some settings the Conops is a document resembling a very high-level requirements specification.
