ABSTRACT
This chapter examines how American cryptanalysts broke Japanese diplomatic ciphers during World War II, while some of the United States’ own communications were protected by being “enciphered” using the natural language of the Navajo, as spoken by the Indians themselves, with some code words mixed in. But, before we get to these topics, we take a look at a potential case of steganography.
