ABSTRACT

There are two main approaches to restructuring transit routes: (1) at the route level or for a small group of routes and (2) at the network level. For therst approach, Pratt and Evans (2004), in TCRP Report 95, suggested that restructuring was to simplify routes, accommodate new travel patterns, ease or eliminate transfers, reduce route circuitry, or otherwise alter route conguration. This approach is dealt with to some extent in Chapters 12, 16, and 17. The present chapter proffers practical solutions utilizing the second approach.
