ABSTRACT
MIL-STD-1553 is a standard which defines the electrical and protocol characteristics for a data bus. SAE AS-15531 is the commercial equivalent to the military standard. A data bus is similar to what the personal computer and office automation industry have dubbed a “Local Area Network (LAN).” In avionics, a data bus is used to provide a medium for the exchange of data and information among various systems and subsystems.
