ABSTRACT
Summary A very simple, 3-piece modular object is taught that takes the form of an unusuallooking hexahedron. Students are then asked, “If the starting square pieces of paper that we used have side length one, what is the volume of the finished object?” Once this volume is computed, students are asked to reconcile their answer with how big a 1 × 1 × 1 cube would be.
