ABSTRACT
The Secret Service began in 1865 with the mission of investigating counterfeiting and fraud and has since added protecting the President of the United States and foreign dignitaries to its duties. Successes and failures regarding the protection mission, in addition to the current structure of the agency, are at the forefront of America's knowledge of the Secret Service.
