ABSTRACT
This entry aims to increase the awareness of students or practitioners who are new to performance measurement at the municipal level. This entry describes what performance measurement and management are, with an explanation about output and outcome measures. This entry then introduces some exemplary local government practices of performance management and concludes with a brief consideration of future directions.
