ABSTRACT
Working on power lines is a daring job that demands full knowledge of site hazards, safe working techniques, full attention to the performed tasks, and continuous monitoring of the work by others to continually correct any unsafe practice at the site. Fatality and severe injuries occur when workers use wrong equipment, do not follow the established rules, or work without proper protective gear. A large number of injuries are attributed to workers ignoring the safety rules due to time pressure, lack of knowledge, or poor supervision. The United States through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has established safety codes and standards for power line work that are widely used worldwide.
