ABSTRACT
The Earth’s climate is maintained by various flows of energy: the flows of shortwave and longwave radiation control climate on the global scale, while the equatorto-pole flows of heat control its regional variation. While this is a slight simplification, it is certainly a good place to start. If any of these flows is perturbed, there are bound to be (global or regional) climatic consequences.
