ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we first introduce the definition of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and then present to the readers some simple examples that are related to LMIs. Following a brief introduction of the histories and advantages of LMI theory and its applications in control systems analysis and design, the structure of the book is finally briefly stated.
