ABSTRACT
As seen in Chapter 1, the atmosphere is a mixture of gaseous substances produced over the Earth’s long history by biogenic, geogenic, and atmospheric processes. As humans evolved, the atmosphere began to be affected by human activities. Initially, these effects were small and insignicant. With the enormous growth in human numbers, resource use, and technological advancements, the effect of humans on the atmosphere has been and continues to be signicant.
