ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we will present an overview on electrochemical properties of graphene by summarizing the recent scientic researches and developments of graphene and its hybrids for lithium ion batteries. Graphene-based hybrids exhibited exciting properties which exceed the intrinsic properties of each component and/or introduced some new properties and functions such as improved electrical conductivity, larger capacity, higher rate capability, and excellent cycling stability. The benecial role of graphene in the hybrids is due to its unique structures and properties such as high surface area and electrical conductivity, which can be used as an ideal support or construct a 3D conductive porous network for achieving excellent properties of the hybrids. The proposed interaction mechanisms for the enhanced electrochemical performance, such as synergistic effects, are highlighted. Finally, the challenges and perspective on future research directions in this eld are also discussed.
