The form of your laboratory notebook will probably be defined by the organization or research group in which you work, but before any practical work is undertaken, you should be clear about the format you will use for making a record of your work. If the exact format for recording experiments is not
prescribed, spend some time devising a layout for your laboratory notebook entries. It should be stressed that a laboratory book is not a format for polished report writing, but a daily log of work carried out in the laboratory.
