ABSTRACT
So far we have dealt with matters for which there is at least in theory an exact answer-curves and surfaces have been tted through points and values such as sin ø have been calculated to as many signicant gures as were necessary. In many circumstances, however, things are not exact. Every measure can be subject to a small amount of error, which means that we must look for a “best-t” solution.
