A slice of bread, a piece of fruit, or a bowl of rice are each examples of the many carbohydratefoodswemayconsumeonadailybasis.Inthischapter,wewillexplorecarbohydrates(abbreviatedandalsoknownasCHOorcarbs)aswellasthenatureandvalueofa diethighinthemacronutrientcarbohydrate.Perhapsinyourownpersonalstudyoffoods youhaveseenandhearditsaidthattheAmericandietwouldbemadebetterbyincreasing intake of whole grains and reducing intake of sugars.
