ABSTRACT

Numerical quantities focus on expected values, graphical summaries on unexpected values.

All of the functions that we describe in this chapter are contained in the base MATLAB® software. Examples of other specialized visualization capabilities from the Statistics Toolbox will be discussed in the relevant chapters. Here, we will show how to use the basic plotting functions for two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) data. We then describe scatter plots and conclude with a presentation of the plotting capabilities available in MATLAB graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
