ABSTRACT
As we will see later on, data analysis sometimes requires an understanding of probability concepts and the use of probability distributions. The Statistics Toolbox has functionality that will handle many parametric probability density and distribution functions. These functions can estimate distribution parameters using the observed data, generate random variables, and more. In this chapter, we describe the parametric probability distributions available in MATLAB®, discuss how to estimate the parameters of the distributions, and illustrate the functions that generate random variables.
