ABSTRACT

The first part of this book presented various methods belonging primarily to the realm of descriptive statistics. These included methods for summarizing our data using numbers and visualization techniques. Another part of statistics is concerned with drawing conclusions about the population, based on observed data. This area is called inferential statistics, and it includes hypothesis testing and the estimation of confidence intervals. As we will see, it relies on some descriptive statistics we introduced earlier.
